- The hills stations – Kerala has more than ten beautiful hill stations, all loaded with rich natural beauty and salubrious climate. Some of its famous hill stations are
- Munnar – once a British hill resort, this beautiful hill station located at the confluence of three rivers is 1600 metres above sea level. With sprawling tea gardens and picturesque locations, it is ideal for trekking
- Chembra Peak –ideal for trekking this is the highest peak in Wayanad.
- Palakkad – also called ‘the granary of Kerala’, this small hill station is rich with dense forests, beautiful valleys, long rivers and diverse flora and fauna.Ponmudi – quiet and peaceful, this hill station is ideal for relaxing in the lap of nature. Other famous hills stations are Vagamon, Idukki, Chithirapuram, Devikulam, Mattupetty, Nellyampathy etc.
- The beaches – spreading for more that 550 kms, Kerala boasts of some of the finest beaches in the world. Dotted with coconut and palm trees the beaches of Kerala are divine, yet sinful. Some of its famous beaches are -
- Kovalam – this is one of the most frequently visited beaches of Kerala. Divided into three parts, the lighthouse beach, the Hawa beach and the Samudra, this beach is loaded with people all the time.
- Poovar Beach – this beach is less explored, thus also unspoilt, it is enveloped by the unique backwaters.
- Shanghumugham Beach – a favourite among the sunset viewers. The historical Fort Kochi Beach, which has the unique Chinese fishing nets.
- Other famous beaches are Alappuzha Beach, Bekal Beach, Kappad Beach, Varkala Beach, and Beypore Beach and there is no end to the list.
- The backwaters – created by the action of waves and shore currents, the Kerala Backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes. Fed by around 38 rivers, it forms network among five large lakes. It is like an interconnection of canals, rivers, lakes and inlets.
A boat ride along the backwaters is quite common among the tourists and is also one of the most sought after tourist activities on Kerala Holiday.
- The Wildlife sanctuaries - Kerala is also home to some of the famous wildlife sanctuaries in India. With a forest area of 11, 125 square km, the state has five national parks and 13 wildlife sanctuaries.
The most visited among them is the Periyar wildlife sanctuary, which has some of the rare and endangered flora and fauna.
